Acceptance: The Jewel Trilogy - Book 1 Review

Image
Acceptance by Trish Beninato My rating: 5 of 5 stars An epically awesome new take on mythology. First of, let me state that I’m a huge fan of mythology and lore. I also love the exploration of what if. Now, I saw Ms. Beninato’s books floating around. The colorful colors caught my eye, & I eventually bought a book without reading the description (friends who’s opinions I trust read and loved Ms. Beninato’s work). And then I read the description. Greek and Egyptian mythology in one book? Yes please! This science-fantasy blew me away! Oh, and a peek at Atlantis! I loved the main character, Jewel, and how she grows in this book as she discovers the truth about her genealogy/history (No, this is nothing like Percy Jackson, Jewel is on a whole other level). I have suspicions about her adoptive father that hope get explored during the rest of the trilogy. And Anubis— what can I say but what a beautiful, good, man! He just jumps off the page, taking Jewel by the hand throug...

Jinn: The Impossibles 1 by Tiki Kos - Review

Image
Jinn by Tiki Kos My rating: 5 of 5 stars This was a quick read and an awesome look at Tiki Kos’ writing style! There’s definitely more to explore in Jinn’s world & I hope there will be a sequel or two, maybe even something novel length! The exploration of Jinn’s magic and how she learns how to deal with it, while brief, was well thought out and enthralling! Available on Amazon for FREE View all my reviews

Untainted Magic by Karen Dubose

Untainted Magic by Karen Dubose My rating: 4 of 5 stars A Great Read! I really enjoyed this one! This edge of your seat roadtrip/escape caper kept me engrossed the entire time. The comradery between Skye, her mom, and her friends was well done. I loved how they looked out for one another and how vulnerable they are with each other. The dark source was an interesting idea to explore and I'd love to learn more. There was a bit of romance which slowly builds, but it leads to a bit of a rushed end, I would have liked to spend more time with them. This is the first book in a series and I look forward to diving into the next one! Available on Amazon for $2.99 View all my reviews

Of Wolves and Witches: A Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance by Elena Lawson - Review

Of Wolves and Witches: A Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance by Elena Lawson My rating: 4 of 5 stars This was a quick fantasy read with a well thought out world. I'd hesistate to call it urban fantasy because while it is set in the modern world, there is very little interaction with humans. It is also set up to be a RB, but it's just touched upon in this book (hello, slow burn!) it currently feels like a love triangle. The major potential interest is also a teacher (A turn off for me, but doesn't affect my rating, since that's personal preference and not a fault of the writing). I found the world and rules of magic well developed and fascinating. That, and the mystery surrounding the MC's heritage are what really sucked me into the story & and made me preorder book 2! I can't wait to see where the story line goes! Available on Amazon for $2.99 View all my reviews

The Academy Series by Jaci Wheeler - Review

Image
Operation Child Soldier by Jaci Wheeler My rating: 5 of 5 stars This book was amazing! And so different from the other Jaci Wheeler book I’ve read (Silent Song) which was a romance (this was not!). It’s an edge of your seat, high stakes, engrossing story told from several perspectives (including the villain’s). The characters were relatable and sympathetic. I felt like I was rooting them on as they discovered the big bad and planned how to deal with him. I so need to get my hands on book 2! Available on Amazon for $3.99 Rogue by Jaci Wheeler My rating: 5 of 5 stars This book has it all! Suspense, romance, family, satisfaction, twists, & superb characters. I would call this part two, instead of book 2, since it’s definitely a continuation of the same story arc. Aria surrounds herself with great people, which she unknowingly brings out the best of. The men, the woman, everyone benefits for having a badass Barbie in their lives! (Well, not the bad guys ...
