Mercy Brown, Part 2 by Tiki Kos My rating: 5 of 5 stars We dive right into the apocalypse with book 2! While discovering the fates of some characters from book one, Mercy makes some interesting discoveries about herself and what she is. (I’d love to dig more into her heritage, hopefully in future books) A road trip brings her from the heat of Nevada to winter in Montana, where she struggles to discern who to trust, old friends and new. I love the feel of the narrative, diving deeper into zombie type creatures and meeting some possibly good vampires. I’m hoping a certain character’s end is a misleading one, and they’ll show up again! In the mean time, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for book 3! available on Amazon View all my reviews  on goodreads

Mercy Brown, Part 1 by Tiki Kos My rating: 5 of 5 stars This was a fast-paced novella that falls somewhere between Twilight and The Walking Dead. ✔️Romantic vampires ✔️Evil vampires ✔️The world as we know it coming to a sticky end I was familiar with the name Mercy Brown as a historical figure (way back when they thought she was a vampire, exhumed her body, and burned her heart) This story takes Mercy Brown into the modern world. She isn’t a vampire, but she’s definitely something! As with all of Tiki’s heroines, Mercy is a survivor who can and will do whatever it takes, my favorite kind of FMC! Then there’s the broody new boy at school that all the popular girls are throwing themselves at, that takes a liking to our Mercy. Seems like the perfect set up for a teen romance, right? WRONG! Clay and Blood by Rebekah Jonesy My rating: 5 of 5 stars Clay and Blood (Mab’s Doll Book 2) by Rebekah Jonsey leaves off not long after book one. The creature feature in this one is a mad dryad named Kayla. While she’s not the main character, she is prominently featured and absolutely fascinating. Her introduction is absolutely terrifying but as the story digs deeper into her character, I came to feel sympathy for her (it takes a great writer to do that with their villain!) As for Gillian she learns some brand new skills and grows in her fae powers. She is intuitive and curious and it’s fun to see her grow on the page. As for the Pitch, he’s quickly becoming a favorite of mine. He doesn’t have a single word of dialogue, yet he still managed to make me laugh (squirrel!!) Lullaby of the Dead: Every Ghost Has a Story by Lynn Lamb My rating: 5 of 5 stars This book was absolutely fascinating! From time to time, Landry isn’t likable, but she is heartbreakingly human. She learns, grows, and evolves from an office worker into a warrior with a purpose. This thriller/horror is well thought out in how all the supernatural elements work and interact with the real world. It was fascinating digging into each character's past and how they each feel about the present. There is a bit of a love story in there, but I wouldn’t say it’s the focus, but rather the seasoning. Of Magic and Moonlight by Elena Lawson My rating: 5 of 5 stars Well now! We get to dig more into Harper’s past, as ghosts haunt her every step. We get some witches up to no good (though we don’t find out who they are), a vampire, and a secret room. As far as character development goes, we don’t get too much. This particular book is more plot-driven than character-driven. It feels a little bit short/abrupt because of it. There was also more of the Harper/professor relationship, which is a trope that I’m not a fan of. The relationship between Harper and her familiars is a bit lost in the action. The action itself was amazing! I really enjoyed the mystery and the “am I going crazy?” moments, including a certain ghost from the 1920s! Available on Amazon View all my reviews  on goodreads

Enchant: Beauty and the Beast Retold by Demelza Carlton My rating: 5 of 5 stars This was a great reimagining of Beauty and the Beast! Great characters and an enthralling love story. I loved the combination of the enchantress and Beauty, turning an already strong character into something new. The beast curse made much more sense. The story combines various versions of the fairytale, coming up with a fresh take that also feels familiar in a comforting way.
